The International Code Council (ICC) has signed an agreement to support The Standardization Organization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GSO), which is working on the development of GBC.
GBC will be based on the Saudi Building Code, and is expected to “harmonise” building practices in the region. According to a press statement, GBC will "reflect the latest advances in building safety, affordability, and sustainability.”
Remarking on the agreement, Dominic Sims, CEO of the ICC, said, "The International Code Council is proud to work with the GSO and support its efforts to develop the Gulf Building Code. The development of the GBC will help foster economic growth and safety throughout the region.”
